Chris Sounness, Chief Executive Officer
Chris is deeply committed to ensuring that changes within the region bring tangible benefits to the communities affected. He believes that while change is inevitable, it is crucial to guide it towards better outcomes.
With a profound understanding of the key issues and opportunities facing farmers and regional communities, Chris passionately advocates for sustainable development. Outside of his professional life, Chris enjoys cycling along the Wimmera River, occasionally plays cricket (albeit not very well), and proudly declares he is a West Australian despite residing in Victoria.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Applied Science with Honors in Biology and has earned two Master’s degrees: one in Arts, specialising in Organisational Communication, and the other in Marketing, focusing on Agribusiness.
Jess Adler, Corporate & Business Services Manager
Jess grew up in Minyip where she farms with her family, therefore the long term sustainability and liveability of our small towns is high on her consciousness.
A qualified CPA, Jess has a background in the mining sector, public practice, agricultural industry, and manufacturing.
She currently holds roles with SkillInvest and Ararat Rural City Council and has previously represented her region as Deputy Chair of Wimmera Catchment Management Authority, and Chair or Independent member of numerous regional Local Government Area’s where she’s been able to apply her governance, financial reporting, risk management, audit and internal control skills and knowledge.
Sara Barron, Settlement Services
Sara has a professional background in international and community development, with over 20 years’ experience working with not-for-profits, social enterprises, international development NGOs, federal, state and local government, community groups and consultants.
Sara’s expertise includes project and case management, management and delivery of federal and state contracts and regional development research.
Since migrating from the UK in 2014, Sara is dedicated to regional development and enhancing service capabilities for vulnerable communities. Her passion for migration and settlement drives her commitment to impactful community outcomes.
Sara holds a Master of Science (MSc) in International Development from University of London and a Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons.) in Cultural Studies.
Binesh Tholath, Project Manager
Binesh previously served as Managing Director of Absolute Property Group, Ireland, overseeing the operations of 90 Strata Corporations and a vast residential and commercial property portfolio.
His proficiency in IT and technology integration drove significant operational efficiencies, and he developed tailored software solutions for small businesses through his own IT company.
Now calling Horsham home, Binesh is committed to regional development and is passionate about regional housing and employment. He holds a BA in Economics and Public Administration, an MBA from the Dublin Institute of Technology, and previously held the designation of Qualified Financial Advisor in Ireland.
