Leadership Wimmera’s mission is to stimulate, facilitate and sustain leadership in the region through a variety of programs and initiatives.
The program has now been running for 24 years and has built valuable leadership skills for 100s of people in areas including local government, businesses, community, farming and more. It has also given all involved the capacity to reflect and learn more about themselves and the community they live in.
2026 Leadership Wimmera Changemakers Program
The Changemakers Program is a program for existing leaders – those who own or run a business and/or who lead a team at work or in their community life and who have demonstrated potential to commit to greater leadership involvement in their workplace or community.
- These graduates continue to utilise the important life and leadership skills they have learned in their roles as business owners, managers, employees, volunteers, parents, friends and community members.
- Employers who have sponsored their staff to participate in Leadership Wimmera programs – including year-long intensive programs and shorter-term opportunities to learn new skills – have observed improvements in the individuals’ confidence, performance and willingness to take on greater responsibilities.
- Many graduates have stepped up to more senior positions in their workplace, taken on roles of responsibility in the community and sought ways to contribute to the future of the Wimmera Southern Mallee.
- More than 730 people have graduated from Leadership Wimmera programs since 2002 which equates to more than 1.5 per cent of the region’s population.
