We know it can be difficult to find clear, up-to-date information about what renewable energy projects are happening in our region. That’s why we’ve created this interactive map — to make it easier for communities, stakeholders, and anyone interested to see where projects are already located and what’s underway.

How to use the map:

Use your mouse, or the +/- to zoom in and out

External links have been added to proposed projects, click on the desired project shape to click the link. Please note only proposed projects with adequate/up to date information have been added.

To view the key, click on the square in the top right corner. You can select what layers you want to see or hide

This map is updated and monitored frequently

The Victorian Transmission Plan has made recent changes to the Renewable Energy Zones. These changes have been made as a result of consultation with community, Traditional Owners and industry.

VicGrid has changed the size and shape of some proposed REZ's to remove sensitive areas. New sections have been added to the South West and Central North zones, the Wimmera Southern Mallee and Grampians Wimmera zone are now being considered as two separate sections, making up the new proposed Western zone. The transmission projects needed to support the development of renewable energy zones have been refined. The total area of the proposed REZ's is approximately 7.9%, this has increased from 7% in the draft plan.

Only a small percentage of Renewable energy zones will actually be used for development- approximately 11% of these renewable energy zones will be used for renewable energy infrastructure. For more information visit the Vic Government's Transmission Plan Page.

Likewise, only a small percentage of land is used for a wind farm. Approximately 1-2% of land of the overall wind farm site is used to host the turbines.

The files and data included in this map have been sourced from a range of external stakeholders and government bodies. While we’ve done our best to compile the information in an accessible way, we are not responsible for the accuracy or content of the original files. Please note, some project links have not been included. This is because the project is in the very early stages and there is little to no information available at this time.
