Planning for heatwaves, loss of power and business interruptions will be discussed at a Getting Ready for Summer business webinar on Tuesday, November 25.
Run by Wimmera Southern Mallee Business Connect, the online event will also include updates on recent changes to several business rules.
Heatwave HELP project coordinator Kerrie Godbold will talk about the health impacts of severe heat and ways to grow a HEAT SAFE business that benefits both owners, staff and customers.
Participants will also hear how one local business puts its own heatwave policy into practice each summer.
Wimmera Emergency Management Coordinator Kristi Sullivan will detail important preparation activities to survive the first 72 hours after a disaster when potentially facing loss of power, communications and water.
Preparations can include supplies of water, food, batteries, first aid, backup phone chargers, sanitisers and cash.
Wimmera Southern Mallee Corporate and Services Manager Jess Adler will talk about the importance of having a continuity plan for your business.
This plan considers impacts of various disaster scenarios and identifies steps for returning to regular trade.
Human Resources Specialist Lisa Davidson will provide updates on recent rule changes around record keeping and flexible work or work from home arrangements.
There will also be a chance for webinar participants to share upcoming  events and any other issues or updates.
WSM Business Connect was created as part of recent regional drought resilience projects coordinated by Wimmera Southern Mallee Development.
It aims to provide human resources, resilience, networking and other relevant information to help local businesses better connect, learn, share and thrive.
