Wimmera Southern Mallee Development (WSMD) is set to deliver an exciting year of leadership development, offering valuable opportunities for individuals across the region.

The highly regarded Wimmera Leadership Changemakers Program returns this June, continuing its mission to cultivate strong, community-focused leaders.

Facilitated by Leading Teams, the 10-month program will feature a dynamic mix of immersive workshops, social awareness training, leadership development activities, and a group retreat. Participants are required to attend one-day sessions every few weeks.

With 20 places available, businesses can invest in their future by sponsoring a team member’s participation. Additionally, a number of scholarships will be available to support accessibility for aspiring leaders.

“The Changemakers Program is designed for established and aspiring leaders—whether they own or manage a business or lead a team in the workplace or community,” said WSMD Program Manager Binesh Tholath.

“Participants will gain in-depth leadership skills, refine their personal leadership ‘brand,’ and develop strategies to make a lasting impact.”

WSMD is also collaborating with the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation (ARLF) to deliver a Community Leadership Program at Longerenong College this May and June.

This grass-roots program is ideal for individuals passionate about making a difference in their communities. It focuses on fostering collaboration, building resilience, and developing innovative problem-solving techniques while promoting holistic well-being.

“This year’s ARLF program is made possible thanks to a grant from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, which also funded a similar two-day program in Natimuk last November,” Mr Tholath explained.

“For this round, we have up to 24 places, and the program will run over two and a half days each month, including overnight stays.”
